The county is sponsoring a computer workshop for the Kailua-Kona Seniors at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library. Members may bring their laptops and Kindles. This workshop is for members only.
Kailua-Kona Seniors not attending the workshop may go to Hale Halawai at 10 a.m. where board games will be available.

Social media trainer speaks to Rotary
Journalist and social media marketing trainer Denise Laitenen will speak to the Rotary Club of Kona Sunrise on Wednesday. Her topic will address the “Top 10 Things You Need to Know About LinkedIn.”

Love coaching workshop planned
A two-hour introductory “Love Coaching and Counseling” offers the tools and skills of compassionate connections at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Society for Kona’s Education and Art in Honaunau.

Postponed nursing degree program discussed Thursday
Hawaii Community College and the University of Hawaii Center, West Hawaii will host a question and answer session from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday to discuss the decision to pause admissions to its associate of science degree nursing class in Kona for one year in 2015. The pause in admissions is because of the low percentage of students who have been graduating from the program in Kona recently.
The open session will be held in Building B5, Room 5C at UH Center, West Hawaii in Kealakekua. For more information call May Kealoha, Nursing and Allied Health Division chairwoman, at 934-2650.
Wildcats helping out Food Basket
The Konawaena Wildcats football team is gearing up its 2014 football season with its annual Green &White game by partnering with Hawaii Food Basket in an effort to help feed Hawaii’s hungry.
The public is invited to bring a donation to the Konawaena High School football field Friday and the Hawaii Food Basket in exchange for a complimentary admission to the Wildcats football game. Fans who may donate four cans of food or 5 pounds of food will receive a complimentary ticket to the game. Food must be in the form of cans or unopened non-perishable bags, such as rice. Regular admission to the football game is $4 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and free for children 12 and younger.
The collection will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Konawaena High School football field, 81-1043 Konawaena School Road, Kealakekua. An exhibition flag football game featuring the Hawaii Island Police Department vs. the Hawaii Island Fire Department begins at 7:30 p.m. for more information.

Lee completes basic military training
Air Force Airman James P. Lee graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Lee is the son of Paul and Phyllis Lee of Honomu.
He is a 2013 graduate of Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus, Keaau.
